Interview - Eiki Eiki

We would like to thank June Manga for their time and their working as the middleman to make this interview possible. Eiki Eiki was their guest as well as the cons at Yaoi Jamboree 2008.

BA:What started you in the business of Boy's love?

Eiki Eiki:I got into this world when I first encountered and read Captain Tsubasa's Doujinshi.

BA:What do you do when you aren't drawing manga? do you have any hobbies?

EE: I usually spend time with my dearest pet rabbit, Ruby. And of course I love to gamble such as go to the pachinko slots.

BA:What do you prefer to draw with?

EE:I prefer drawing with a pen.

BA:How does it feel to come from a family that has so many popular names to it? Is there competition among siblings? Do you get to spend any time together?

EE:Nothing really. There's no particular feeling, but when my grandfather was Prime Minister of Japan I did feel very pressured during that time. And no there's no sibling rivalry or anything, moreso we're very close and support one another alot and help each other.

BA:Do you like to manage Artists as much as Drawing?

EE: Planning and managing artists is alot more fun than drawing, I would definetly have to say.

BA:Who are the artists that you look up to?

EE: Takahashi Rumiko. I fell in love with her series "Urusei Yatsura" and always ended up trying to draw like her and practiced alot by drawing Ramu-chan. (laugh)

BA:What got you started? When did you decide to be a Manga-ka?

EE: Once again, when I started getting into Takahashi Rumiko's "Urusei Yatsura".

BA:What do you want to do in the future?

EE: I want to be able to think of the Mangaka world and help develop it to become much more than it already is. I want to see it flourish.
Also my other dream is to get married.

BA:If you had one thing to say to your American fans, what would it be?

EE: Aishiteru. (I love you!)
